2008 AAU Junior Olympics - Detroit, MI

Congratulations go out to Kai Alexander, Alani Alexander, and Diquan Walker for their performances at the 2008 AAU Junior Olympics held in Detroit, Michigan, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. Having qualified for this prestigious meet, these three represented 727 TC very well.

aaujo1The AAU Junior Olympic Games are held annually and bring together the best athletes from across the country. Athletes must advance through local, regional, and state competitions to reach the Junior Olympics.

727 Track Club athletes have represented themselves and the club very well in past years. This year was no exception.

Alani Alexander competed in both the shot put and discuss. Her first competition was the discus and Alani's best throw came out to 69' 2" which placed her 3rd in the competition. In the shot put, Alani threw 26'7", good enough to land her in 9th place.

Kai Alexander competed in the long jump and with her 10' 9.5" effort, Kai finished in 7th place.

Diquan Walker competed in both the 100m and 200m, advancing to the semi-finals of both races.

AAU National Club Championships

With virtually no rest after the State Meet, 727 TC athletes began their competition at the AAU National Club Championships against other track clubs from across the US. Coming off the fine performances at the Region 4 State Championships, 727 Track Club athletes picked up right where they left off. This national caliber meet reflects the high level of performance that 727 Track Club athletes have prepared for all season.

Consider that 727 Track Club athletes:

Those athletes who finished in the top 4 qualify to compete at the AAU National Junior Olympic Games in Detroit from July 23rd to August 2nd, 2008.

AAU Region 4 State Championships

727 TCShowalter Field, Winter Park - June 26th through June 29th

727 Track Club athletes who qualified for the AAU Region 4 State Championship Meet represented the club very well during the 4-day meet held at Showalter Field in Winter Park, Florida. Athletes who finish in the top 4 qualify for advancement to the National AAU Junior Olympics in Detroit in July. There were many fine performances and quite a few personal bests posted during the four days at the state meet.

Sunshine State Games 2008

727 Track Club Athletes Crowned SSG Champions over two days of competition

Over the course of two days, athletes representing 727 Track Club established superb performances and brought home a lot of medals. A competition open to all residents of the state of Florida, the Sunshine State Games brings together thousands of athletes in many different sports. The track and field competition was held at Winter Haven High School on June 13th and 14th. 727 TC athletes came prepared to perform, bringing home several first place finishes.

727 Track Club represented well at Tampa Qualifier Meet

Several 727 Track Club athletes qualified to compete in the AAU State Track Meet by finishing in the top 3 in their age group at the AAU District Qualifier Meet held Saturday, June 7th at King High School in Tampa. These athletes will compete at the AAU State Meet in Winter Park, Florida, on June 26th through June 29th.
