As a coach at the AAU level for several years, Paul's disciplined style of training and conditioning combined with his ability to develop a strong rapport with athletes of all age groups has produced many national qualifiers in a number of different events. Several of these national qualifiers, both individuals and relay teams, have finished ranked in the top ten in their respective age groups at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
